So, I ordered my Dell PowerEdge 1600SC last Thursday, but Dell’s website denies all knowledge of my order, although it should have been confirmed within 72 hours. Apparently the £99 server offer was massively over-subscribed and Dell will be in touch with customers by the end of tomorrow. I won’t be holding my breath. Surely they have some sort of inventory management system in place? It wouldn’t be possible for them to oversell, would it? I have a feeling that Dell are about to inflict some dreadful PR on themselves and that my new server won’t be arriving after all.
