Lost Rivers of London

Created: 22 Jun 2004

There is an exhibition, of sorts, on Farringdon Road that draws attention to the hidden London rivers. There are signs marking the route of the Fleet, once a major waterway, now a sewer which flows unseen below the street. Apparently it is possible to stand a few yards from the office where I work and hear it flowing beneath the road. The display has clearly been constructed quite cheaply and consists of banners hanging from street furniture and scaffolding supported on oil barrels, cardboard display boards and a sandpit. Interesting nonetheless.
