For the last few years my lifestyle has oscillated between healthy (running, triathlons, periods of complete abstinence from alcohol) and much less healthy (drinking far too much, smoking and not exercising). I cannot seem to find a blanace between the two. So, having been smoking pretty much since I moved to London seven months ago, I am mid quitting-attempt right now. As usual, I am avoiding alcohol. Those helpful people in charge of the railways have decided to help me by ensuring that I have some extra exercise. They might pretend that the £3 million that they are spending is for regenerating Kings Cross - St. Pancras and putting in new rail link and Channel Tunnel terminal, but it’s just a convenient cover for their ultimate plan to make me walk slightly further in my journeys to and from work.
So, a quiet weekend. I cleaned up the flat on Saturday, Sally came up and I cooked Thai green curry for us. I can’t actually remember the last time I cooked anything for her which didn’t come semi-assembled from a packet. On Sunday we walked the length of the Regents Canal and then she went back down south. Watched Supersize Me on Sunday night. Enjoyable film which will only ever be seen by people who already agree with Morgan Spurlock’s views. Ultimately, though, it is just a stunt. A worthwhile one, but still a stunt.
Update: 19/9/2004 Fixed misspelling of Morgan Spurlock’s surname.
