A new Windows PC. Comes bundled with Norton anti-virus (90 day free trial). Applying Norton updates takes 3 reboots. Applying Windows updates requires a further 3 reboots. I instruct Windows to just apply updates automatically, whereupon it asks me if it should install updates it detected. And what is it with updates requiring me to install ActiveX controls and push a bunch of pointless buttons that effectively mean “do what you were going to do anyway, yes it’s now my fault if it goes wrong and yes, I’ll sign up to a new license agreement from Microsoft even though I haven’t got a clue what it says.”
Only the other day I went from Ubuntu Breezy to Hoary. This asked me about half a dozen questions and required one reboot. Come in Windows; your time is up.
On a brighter note, I went windsurfing today.
PS - A message box has just popped up informing me that I need to reboot again …
