I have this Pocket PC with a soundcard. It has a 2.5mm audio socket.
I’d like to connect some headphones to it, preferably ones that I can
use to connect to other devices. So I:
- Look for 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters. Maplin have some.
- None of them are right-angled plugs, so the adapter will extend
from the side of the pocket PC by at least 20mm, making damage to
the headphone socket more likely as the device bounces around in
my pocket.
- I purchase one and later discover that it is mono to mono, so I
only get output in one ear.
- I look for headphones with 2.5mm plugs. All those that I can find
are for mobile phones.
In order to have some properly fitting headphones, it will be
necessary to buy a cheap pair of Sennheiser headphones and replace the
3.5mm plug with a 2.5mm plug. All this because the manufacturer
decided to use a non-standard socket. Thanks Mitac, that small socket
size has saved me so much space.
Updates
- This
would do the job nicely, but £7.06 is a ridiculous price.
- This is more
like it.
