… people who work in launderettes never seem to be sure what temperature “warm” or “hot” washes in their machines are? Why isn’t there a big sign on the wall explaining the temperatures are? Why don’t the manufacturers have standard names for different washes? They could even print the temperatures on the machines - just like a domestic washer. There: you saw it here first. It’s a revolutionary idea, but it might just catch on.
A lazy day. I did my washing, bought some seeds, pots and compost and did some ironing. Bliss. A whole day to myself. England beat the West Indies in the One Day and I relayed the news to the folk in #cricket. Hero of the day must be Chris Read, scoring 18 from one over.
Yesterday I walked with Sally and some of her friends and family from Winchester to Broughton (about 10 miles). Anna, from the Australian branch of Sally’s family, is walking from Fulham to Cornwall and this was part of the walk. A pleasant day with sunny spells and plenty of refreshment and food breaks. Unfortunately, Sally and Anna got soaked today in the walk to Salisbury. I must admit I did get a light spattering of rain on me as I walked to the lauderette, so I can sympathise with them.
Oh, moved my score up to 10 in CNPS. I really must do better. Having a sad, obsessive hobby, but only being half-hearted about it is patently absurd. Like people who eat about three sweets and then say “I shouldn’t really; I just can’t resist them you know.”
