Cold and cool

It’s been a busy few weeks, with a heavy workload, flat-hunting and a commute from Winchester to manage. The good news is that I managed to find a nice flat, about 200m from my old flat and have moved some of my possessions in. I also managed to fit a windsurfing session in on Saturday, which was awful at first, as I was overpowered on my smallest sail, a 6.25 m² Tushingham Storm, and was absolutely rubbish for the first half-hour. Then the wind dropped and I managed to some nice, short blasts across the shallow lagoon off “Esso Beach” in Langstone Harbour. Eventually the wind dropped completely, but by then the tide had fallen and there wasn’t much water left anyway. However, since then I’ve developed a nasty cold. This is actually the second time I’ve had cold/flu symptoms after sailing there and I may give it a miss in the future. The proximity to Budds Farm Sewage Works is particularly worrying. It is, however, a pretty convenient place to sail on flat water, in safe conditions, when Poole is a lot further to drive.

I’m also reminded of the pressing need for a smaller sail, probably a 5.5 m². But then I’ll need a 400 or 430 cm mast and the costs start to mount …
